Do you hate it when your parents boss you around like a three-year-old? We all do, why? Because we all like to be in control of what we do, of the person we choose to be and to be with, and of the life we lead. Unfortunately, modern science would tell you that the freedom of will does not exist. We share our bodies with numerous microscopic or sometimes relatively bigger organisms, which we call parasites. Some of these organisms are smart, while others, like the flat worm, simply hangs on our intestinal wall and steals food. This article focuses on the smarter parasites, those that mess with your brains, and like it or not, control your behaviors for their own survival. Just before you start to hate them like you hate your parents for cutting off your phone call, science becomes philosophy. Do you know these mind-controlling creatures may help us to understand how the brain works?
