It is a real story and written by Saxo Grammaticus. It is an old document about the history of Denmark in twelfth century. It tells about the revenge of a Prince. He is called Hamlet. When his uncle became the new king, he was not happy. It was because he didn’t like him. His mother got married to the new king. Hamlet felt she was very foolish. He thought his father was better than him. However, his father was dead. The reason for his death was unknown. Until one day, Hamlet’s best friend, Horatio, saw the ghost of the dead king at the castle walls. He told what he saw to Hamlet. At midnight, Hamlet followed Horatio to the castle walls. The ghost appeared again. The ghost told the secret of how he died to Hamlet. The murderer of Hamlet’s father was Hamlet’s uncle. To expose the truth, he decided to put on a play which was about the death of an old king. While the Player king was sleeping, the player murderer poured some poison into his ear. The scene seemed play out the death of the old king. The new king demanded the actors to stop their acting at once. Now, Hamlet knew the truth about his father’s death, the new king was guilty. Hamlet rushed to his mother’s room. He asked her why she had betrayed his father. Suddenly, he heard some sound for help. There was someone behind the curtain. He turned round quickly and killed him. The dead man was called Polonius, who was the councilor of the new king. Now, the new king knew Hamlet had found out the truth. He wanted to send him to England and wrote to the king of England. He was going to tell the English to execute him. He was afraid Hamlet would take revenge for his father. When Polonius’ daughter received news of her father’s death, she lost her mind. She loved her father. Finally, she chose the worst way to solve the problem – kill herself. Luckily, Hamlet returned to Denmark without any danger. The new king had an idea. He suggested that Polonius’ son hold a fencing match. Hamlet participated in the match. However, he didn’t know the ploy. His opponent had put some poison on the tip of the sword. They exchanged blows. At that point, Hamlet knew the truth, but he also had revenge before he died. He killed the new king. Author: William Shakespeare
