Just as dating and romance is the hottest topic around the Valentine’s Day, how does it sound to forget about dating? As the writer wrote the book “IKissed Dating Goodbye”, he was at the age of 21, when young adults normally think about dating, if not already in one. It was at that point of life the handsome young man wrote from his heart about his own reasons for giving up dating around. But why? He believes that it is worthwhile to wait, for what lies behind commitment and lifetime love is the greatest reward. Joshua Harris was born in the States in 1974. Nowadays teens are getting more and more casual about relationship, and it does not only confine to North America. Thus when Joshua had his first book published in 1997, it was like a stream of fresh idea suggesting a new attitude towards love and relationship. Since then the book has been sold more than one million copies worldwide. In the book, Joshua concluded from observations and experiences that dating at the young age is often a “selfish pursuit of short-term romance”; starting something one cannot finish or commit. Not dating does not mean not good enough for dating, it simply means “not yet”! He thinks that “singleness is a season of our lives unmatched in its boundless opportunities for growth, learning and service. “Like a fruit picked green or a flower plucked before it blossoms, our attempts to rush” can spoil the beauty of lives. He asked young people to be patient because what lies behind waiting is the greatest reward. Joshua also wrote particularly to remind young people to guard each other’s purity. Casual relationships left behind uncompromising scars. For one day, if one finds “the right one”, impurities will only give rise to regrets.
