The story begins just after the elimination of the Tarquin kings. The course of the history are the riots due to the reservation of grain by the ordinary citizens. The Roman general, Caius Martius, and the noble, Menenius Agrippa, have different point of view. On one hand, Menenius wants to sober down all of them; on the other hand, Martius suggests the plebeians should not get the grain. Meanwhile, two tribunes of Rome, Brutus and Sicinius, blames Martius, who leaves Rome afterwards. Later the roman army with leader Cominius and deputy leader Martius engage in fight with Wolscian army with leader Aufidius. Martius conquer a Volscian and, afterwards, combat with Aufidius but ends up with nothing as the Aufidius' own soldiers take him away. Due to Martius' epic bravery, he is then adressed as "Coriolanus" by Cominius. Coriolanus then tries to be the consul but Brutus and Sicinius conspire to stir up another riot against Coriolanus, whose fury is ignited and condemn the concpet of popular rule. The tribunes censure him as a betrayer and order him to be banished. In deportation of Coriolanus from Rome, he finds out Aufidius and tell him he will lead their army to have a assault on the city, Rome. Aufidius agrees. Volumnia is then sent to discourage her son from laying Rome flat, Coriolanus. Volumnia succeeds but leads the the extreme tragedy later as Aufidius kill Coriolanus for his betrayal in Volscian capital.
