Jonathan Corliss, the leading man, is a poor college student stronly desirous of wealth. He has been huanted by the prosperity of Carlsson Copper from his early life. While studying at the University of Pennsylvania, he proposes to please worthy Thor Carlsson and has dated Dorothy, Carlsson's daughter, secretly and frequently. Soon, when Jonathan knows that Dorothy is pregnant, she tells him that all inheritance will be cut off if her father know it. Fearfully, Jonathan decides to murder her and pretended to be a suicide. In new york, he meet another girl Ellen, who is Dorothy's twin sister. He, again, start dating her but this time he is more successful. He wins her marriage, powerful position in her company. However, Ellen seems to discover his conspiracy and so investigate the believed suicide. She reveals dreadful facts about some other murders and the identity of her sister's unknown lover.
