Charlotte's Web, was written by E.B. White and published in 1952. Charlotte's Web is the story of Wilbur the pig, and when he was going to be slaughtered since he was a runt, Fern Arable rescued him. Therefore, they had grown to have a special friendship between them. Wilbur was soon brought to a farm and he met his barnyard best friend, Charlotte the spider. When Wilbur was in danger of being slaughtered and turned into bacon and ham by the farmer, Charlotte wrote messages praising Wilbur in her web in order to persuade the farmer to let him live. This book is especially good for first time readers who have taken the big jump from short stories to a real novel. It is easy reading and the talking animals captivate students. I loved every moment of this book. I would recommend this book to any reader who is currently reading chapter books.
